PMDS laboratory is a private laboratory operating at the Technion in Haifa since 1993. The company specializes in a variety of predictive maintenance services for many sectors in the Israeli economy.
PMDS is certified by the ISRAC Laboratory Accreditation Authority to the high standard of ISO/IEC 17025. This certification includes also the quality management requirements according to the ISO 9000 Standards.
In addition, the laboratory has a permit from the Commissioner of Standardization at the Ministry of Economics and Industry to examine and issue certificates of inspection for petroleum products (oils, diesel fuel, grease, etc.).

The laboratory personnel are a multidisciplinary team and include engineers and practical engineers with extensive experience in the fields of machinery, chemistry, materials, and electricity.
Our equipment is the most advanced and innovative in this field. The uniqueness of the laboratory lies in its ability to incorporate different predictive maintenance services for its clients. The integration of different and independent predictive maintenance methods is very useful and constitutes a significant advantage in that it allows maintenance problems to be predicted with high reliability.
Preventing production outages due to sudden breakdowns in mechanical and/or electrical equipment
Preventing fires due to failures in the electricity and power system.
Substantially reducing the need for oil replacement.
Reducing the frequency of initiated renovations.
Saving energy.
Our lab tests the oils of air compressors, refrigerating compressors /chillers, transformers, turbines, generators, oils from injection machines, and extruder oils, as well as testing engine and gear oils. These tests allow the usage time of oil to be extended, often long beyond that recommended by the oil/machine supplier, without incurring any risk.
In addition, we perform tests on samples of diesel fuel for transportation and heating and examine their compatibility with the Israeli standard.
Scan with infrared camera. This test is especially common in electrical installations (to prevent fires) in factories and institutions, and as a means for testing the efficiency of energy installations, thermal insulation efficiency, etc.
Our laboratory provides inspection services executed by an electrical engineer, a senior type 3 inspector, for testing and issuing certificates to various authorities.
Ferrographic wear analysis indicates unusual wear conditions in rotating equipment in advance, thus contributing to the prevention of unexpected failures, which may cause significant direct and indirect damage (such as down time). The analyses are performed mainly by taking oil samples from machines (engines, turbines, compressors, extruders, mixers, etc.), during their operation, without compromising the availability of the equipment.
The tests are based on sounds beyond our hearing threshold. Their main uses in the maintenance world are for detecting air and gas leaks from tanks and pipes, checking the integrity of steam boilers, steam lines and steam traps, and detection of electrical phenomena. They also constitute an additional auxiliary tool for mechanically predictive maintenance.
The laboratory provides non-ionizing radiation measurement services performed by a tester certified by the Ministry of Environmental Protection. The permit is given for the provision of a service for the measurement of non-ionizing radiation in the field of electrical grid frequencies (ELF). Radiation is measured in radio stations, cellular communications, microwave communications, satellites, and radar stations, and in personal communications equipment, such as mobile phones, cellular devices, and so on.
Any deviation from the acceptable standards can lead to significant health hazards: exposure to high intensity radiation may cause the warming of body tissues, affect the functioning of physiological systems such as nerves, and the communication and metabolism between cells and nerves, and may be a possible cause of cancer (according to IARC).
